Oracle Android According to a Computerworld report, software company Oracle has updated its lawsuit against Google for patent infringement in the runtime environment for the Android mobile operating system. Where the original complaint contained some details of alleged infringements, the update now includes sample code. These are intended to demonstrate that Android contains class libraries and documentation which infringes Oracle's copyright and that nearly a third of Android's API packages are derived from Oracle's Java API packages and related documents.

The update cites infringements involving Java method and class names, definitions and parameters, the structure, organisation and content of Java class libraries and the content and structure of Java documentation. Oracle maintains that Android code has in some cases been lifted directly from the Oracle Java code.

Google has yet to comment on the new accusations. When Oracle launched the lawsuit in August, Google claimed that it was being attacked in its capacity as an advocate for the Java open source community. The company released another statement in early October denying any patent infringements. Google also accused Oracle of having abandoned its open source strategy by bringing the lawsuit and has called for the judge hearing for the case to declare the relevant patents invalid.
