Opsera has announced that version 3.13 of the Community Edition of Opsview, the company's open source IT monitoring software, has been released. The latest version of Opsview Community offers a number of new automation enhancements and various improvements based on feedback from users. New APIs have also been added to support Opsview Mobile.

Opsview Mobile is the company's new smartphone application for Opsview users to check the health of their on-premise, virtualised and cloud-based systems. "With Opsview Mobile we aim to make it easier for IT managers and systems administrators to manage their business service and IT performance from anywhere in the world," said Opsview Product Manager James Peel. "Unlike many third-party mobile IT monitoring solutions, our app has been developed by the same team that has built our core platform which ensures tight integration with Opsview Community edition."

The dashboard view in version 1.0 of Opsview Mobile provides users with 'traffic light' notifications to show the status of hosts and services. Users can also track and acknowledge alerts from the app, opt to receive SMS alerts when performance falls below a predefined threshold, and customise the business and infrastructure view. Opsview Mobile is available as a free download from the Android Market and requires Android 2.1 or later. Technical documentation for Opsview Mobile for Android is available and feedback is welcomed on the Opsview Mobile for Android Forum.

Opsview Community 3.13 is available to download for RHEL, CentOS, Debian, Ubuntu, Solaris 10 or as a VMware Player image. Opsview Enterprise, the commercially supported version of Opsview, adds more powerful reporting, support for Help Desk systems and SMS Gateways, and is available on subscription. Hosted on SourceForge, Opsview Community source code is released under the terms of the GPLv2.
