have announced the availability of the community edition of the Opsview network management software. The highlight of the new release is a complete redesign of the web based interface to give the system a cleaner front end. The redesign also comes with official support for Internet Explorer 8 and Google Chrome. Internet Explorer 6 is now no longer supported.

A new JavaScript framework improves performance when displaying graphs and improving interaction. Other enhancements include updates to Nagvis, easier SMS alerting, fixes to Nagios scheduling and an updated German language translation.

Opsview 3.5 is available to download as source code. Installation instructions for binaries on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5, CentOS, Debian (Etch and Lenny) and Ubuntu (Hardy) on 32 bit and 64 bit Intel and Solaris 10 on Intel and SPARC processors are also available. Opsview is released under the GPLv2.
