Opsera, vendor of the open source network and application monitoring platform Opsview, have announced that they are partnering with Canonical to provide Opsview through Canonical's partner repositories. Opsera say that Ubuntu Server Edition is now its Linux platform of choice for running Opsview Enterprise Edition, the commercially supported version of Opsview Community.

Following the acquisition of its Enterprise Division by Ixxus, Opsera is now focusing on Opsview, associated services and consulting as its sole offering. Tom Callway, marketing manager at Opsera, said many of the company's clients already deployed Opsview on Ubuntu Server Edition and this, combined with Canonical's cloud strategy, convinced Opsera to develop a closer relationship with the Ubuntu provider. Canonical's Software Partner Manager John Pugh called the partnership a "perfect fit for Canonical" to address the managed service provider and financial sectors.
