Opera Dragonfly hunts for web bugs

Opera Software has introduced a new web development tool for its browser. The tool, called Dragonfly, contains a whole range of useful helpers for web developers, including DOM and CSS inspectors, a JavaScript debugger and an error console or command line. While the two previous versions of Opera already contained development tools, these tools were based on JavaScript downloaded from the web.

Dragonfly, on the other hand, runs natively on PCs. Initial tests indicate that Dragonfly appears to work much more smoothly than Opera's previous tools. One article on Opera's developers' pages explains the program architecture, another explains how to use the tool. Opera intends to publish Dragonfly under the BSD license. A beta version of Opera 9.5 with integrated alpha version of Dragonfly is available for download from the Opera web site.
