Innovation Gate (German language link) has released version 5.2 of OpenWGA its Java-based content management system (CMS). The new version includes two new social software plug-ins in the form of OpenWGA Blogs and OpenWGA Photo Gallery – a forum and wiki plug-in were already included in previous versions.

Innovation Gate has extended OpenWGA's database support. In addition to MySQL, the open source Community Edition can now use PostgreSQL as its database back end. The paid-for Enterprise Version supports the DB2, Oracle, Microsoft SQLServer and Lotus Domino databases.

Innovation Gate has been working to make the CMS more user friendly. It's now possible to download files via drag & drop from WebKit-based browsers such as Google Chrome and Safari. The updated Advanced Image Scaler plug-in and the new thumbnail view allow users to perform image processing functions directly in the browser. There's a also a new feature for developers – the Schema Editor can be used to define a schema for designs, one function of which is to contain information on what page types and languages are used within a design.

The OpenWGA Studio, Server, plug-ins and sources are available for download from the OpenWGA Download page. The OpenWGA Community Edition is licensed under the terms of GPL3.
