OpenShot Linux video editor updated

Two months after the release of OpenShot 1.0, the OpenShot developers have announced the availability of version 1.10 of their open source video editor for Linux. In addition to the usual bug fixes and updates, the latest release includes new features and a number of enhancements.

According to OpenShot creator Jonathan Thomas, OpenShot 1.10 features performance improvements to rendering after edits, faster application launching, an improved export screen and the addition of undo/redo in the history panel. Multiple copies of effects can now be added to clips and new effects including a fade in/out menu have also been added. Other notable changes include improvements to H.264 support, localisation and timeline scrolling, easier title editing, new keyboard shortcuts and dynamic tiling of overlapping clips.

Thomas also notes that the 1.10 release of OpenShot will be included in the Ubuntu 10.04 "Lucid Lynx" software center, allowing for a one click install, when 10.04 arrives on the 29th of April, 2010. Thomas also points out that 1.10 "will be the last version of OpenShot to support Ubuntu 8.04 and 8.10," adding that, "This is due to gtkbuilder support (or lack thereof) in those older distros."

OpenShot 1.10 is available to download for 32 and 64-bit systems as a .DEB installer for Ubuntu 8.04 or higher, or as a PPA file for Ubuntu 9.10 and 10.04. OpenShot is released under version 3 of the GNU General Public License (GPLv3).
