OpenOffice Council asks LibreOffice makers to resign
In a recent IRC meeting of the OpenOffice.org Community Council members of The Document Foundation(TDF) were asked to resign their roles on the council. The Document Foundation is the organisation recently launched by OpenOffice community members to manage and develop the LibreOffice fork of the OpenOffice suite of productivity applications. Louis Suarez-Potts, Oracle's OpenOffice.org community manager told the meeting that "If the TDF members do not dissociate themselves from the Document Foundation then they must resign by Tuesday".
Suarez-Potts believes that there are issues concerning conflicts of interests between Oracle's OpenOffice.org governance and that of The Document Foundation that make it "untenable and impossible" to be a part of the both projects. The IRC meeting ended with a possible emergency meeting to be held today (Tuesday) to continue discussing the issue.
