OpenERP is teaming up with open source specialist credativ to bring its alternative to proprietary enterprise resource planning systems (ERP) to the UK. The companies hope that by working together they can increase the share of open source in the UK. credativ has already been supplying OpenERP to SMEs; Chris Halls, credativ UK's MD, says these companies have "already realised business benefits".

Halls explained that credativ has gained extensive experience of OpenERP with recent implementations involving customisation of the warehousing, accounting, VAT reporting and Magento e-commerce integration. OpenERP is a modular system which allows for a phased introduction or replacement of existing systems. An active participant in open source projects, some of credativ's over forty developers have recently fed bug fixes, banking functionality and VAT reporting modules back into the OpenERP system.
