Open-Xchange Server version 6 released

Open-Xchange has now updated the Server Edition of its Groupware application designed for enterprise deployment, just two weeks after announcing its new Hosting Edition. Both versions of the application are based on the same base code, almost all of which has been licensed under GPL since February.

Open Xchange server provides groupware functionality, including mail, calendaring, personal information management through a web-based front end. The Ajax-based user interface can can be customised to match corporate designs using themes. Extensions to add functionality can be integrated either directly into the user interface via plug-ins or into the start menu via the Netvibes Universal Widget API (UWA).

Open-Xchange Server Edition runs under Debian Etch, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 or Suse Linux Enterprise Server 10 and can be integrated into existing infrastructures such as LDAP or Active Directory environments. Open Xchange will distribute the product commercially through its partners with a 25 user software subscription including all bug fixes and updates for costing €875 for the first year, dropping to €218 for subsequent years. Each additional user costs €35 in the first year dropping to €8.75. Customers with existing subscriptions can update to the latest version free of charge.
