Open Recall is a space on The H for those things that are too small to package as news but are worth covering. In this edition: ownCloud joins the Linux Foundation, Mageia 3 RC3, Red Flag Linux 8.0, the Wheezy release date is official, and Calculate Linux 13.4.

  • ownCloud joins the Linux Foundation – Frank Karlitschek, owner and CTO of ownCloud, has announced that his company has joined the Linux Foundation as a member. The company has joined at the Silver level, which is the same tier that Red Hat and Canonical currently occupy.

  • Nearly there – The Mageia developers have published the release candidate for the soon-to-be-released Mageia 3. According to the team, the developers are fixing the last critical bugs and the final version should arrive on 3 May. Detailed release notes are available from the Mageia wiki.

  • Red Flag Linux returns – After over four years without an updated release, Red Flag Software has announcedChinese language link version 8.0 of Red Flag Linux for China. English and Simplified Chinese versions are available for downloadChinese language link. More information about the release is available at Distrowatch.

  • Wheezy is coming – The Debian developers have now officially put a definite date on the release of Debian 7 "Wheezy", confirming that it will be released on 5 May. Members of the Debian community are now called on to organise release parties to celebrate the occasion on the weekend in question.

  • Calculate Linux with 64-bit UEFI support – The 64-bit images of the latest version of Calculate Linux can now be booted on UEFI systems. Calculate Linux 13.4 also brings some refinements to the distribution's Calculate Utilities and its installer. A list with all changes in the release and download links is available from the Calculate Linux web site.
