Zoom The source code to Google's Moog Doodle has been released

Open Recall is a space on The H for those things that are too small to package as news but are worth the linkage. Open Recall collates the interesting stories that didn't quite make the cut.

  • Moog Google Doodle open sourced – Google has released the source code to its interactive Moog Doodle under the Apache 2.0 licence. The Doodle adorned the Google homepage on 23 May to celebrate Robert Moog's 78th birthday. Alongside the source code, Google has published a short history of the development of the Doodle and documentation for developers interested in playing with the code. For those who merely wish to experiment with the virtual synthesizer again, it is still available online.

  • Android gets an official blog – Google has launched an official blog for its Android operating system. The company says it has launched the blog in response to demands from the readers of its Google Mobile Blog.

  • Firefox add-ons cross 3 billion downloads – Mozilla announced that the Firefox Add-ons Gallery has exceeded 3 billion downloads. This number only includes downloads through Firefox's official download mechanism and excludes themes. According to Mozilla's records, more than 85% of Firefox users have at least one add-on installed. For those 85%, the average number of add-ons is five. The most popular add-ons include AdBlock Plus, Firebug, NoScript, Personas Plus and Video DownloadHelper.

  • TrueCrypt on the Raspberry Pi – Ken Fallon has written a short guide describing how to compile TrueCrypt without its GUI on a Raspberry Pi. Fallon explains how to download the required dependencies and then compile everything. The whole operation took just over 75 minutes in total compile time.
