Eurostat Hackday Logo Eurostat is a European Commission agency which compiles and publishes a wide range of statistical data on EU member states. It can be referenced to determine, for example, how GDP in EU member states has changed over the last 20 years or what proportion of renewable energy each state uses. The database also provides access to the raw data behind such figures.

On Thursday, the 16th of December, in collaboration with a number of universities and EU-sponsored research projects, the UK-based Open Knowledge Foundation is organising Eurostat Hackday, to "brainstorm and build useful and interesting things" from this statistical data. Interested parties can register for free at locations in Berlin, Dublin or London or participate via IRC.
