Mozilla developer Chris Lord is in the process of bringing a build of the open source Firefox web browser to the Android-based OUYA game console. According to a post on the unofficial OUYA Forum, the browser already runs on the platform and Lord has started to patch it to support the console's game pad, but the development version is not in a usable state yet.

Lord has posted a photo of his progress on Twitter that shows his OUYA development console running a version of Firefox for Android, along with the comment "kinda unusable atm". He has told an OUYA Forum administrator that part of his work is to make sure that WebGL and the browser's Canvas features perform satisfactorily on the console. Additionally, he plans to support all of OUYA's APIs relevant to the browser – game pad support and text-entry methods being obvious priorities.

The OUYA game console raised $2 million in 24 hours on the Kickstarter crowd funding platform, raising over $8.5 million in total, and has shipped its developer version of the console to some of its backers at the end of last year. The final version for end users is expected to ship to the rest of the Kickstarter backers in March.
