OTRS 3.0 Beta 1 includes new GUI

OTRS logo OTRS Inc. has announced the release of the first beta of OTRS (Open source Ticket Request System) version 3.0, the company's open source help desk system. According to OTRS Research and Development Director Manuel Hecht, the latest development version results in "up to 30% quicker ticket turnaround under demanding high-usage scenarios, on top of enhanced features and accessibility."

OTRS 3.0 Beta 1 features an enhanced New Ticket dashboard, a more dynamic Ticket Zoom view and a completely redesigned, Ajax-powered user interface. The developers say that the user experience changes are the result of the company's work with a specialised design agency and user feedback. Other changes include the addition of an interactive Global Ticket overview, accessibility compliance changes and various search improvements. As with all development releases, use in production environments and on mission critical systems is not advised.

The latest stable release is OTRS 2.4.7, a security update from February. OTRS source code is licensed under the GNU Affero General Public License (AGPL).
