OSCON Logo The next O'Reilly Open Source Convention (OSCON) has been announced, and the organizers have issued a call for papers. The conference will take place between the 25th and the 29th of July, 2011 and the deadline for paper submissions is midday on the 7th of February, 2011.

The organizers state that they are looking for session and tutorial ideas from as wide a range of open source topics as possible, and for these contributions to come from all concerned: from developers and programmers, through hackers and trainers to enthusiasts and activists.

The announcement lists several suggested topics, including open source in smartphones, cloud computing, lifestyle, open standards, politics and artificial intelligence (AI).

As with last year, two types of presentations are requested: three hour tutorials and 40 minute presentations, discussions or panels. The program will be announced and registration open during April 2011.
