Nuxeo logo The open source enterprise CMS maker Nuxeo has announced the release of version 5.5 of its software with support for "social interaction". The new version supports the OpenSocial standard for interoperability with other social platforms and a social module gives users the ability to generate an activity stream, manage circular relationship networks and publish status updates to a micro-blog.

Mobile developers will find the new Android client SDK useful for creating customised access from an Android device to the Nuxeo platform. It includes support for offline document and content access and automatic synchronisation when back online. Nuxeo Platform 5.5 also includes the Nuxeo IDE, launched in October, which offers hot reloading, wizards and templates, and incorporates a number of new features in the Nuxeo Studio customisation and configuration front end such as a new theme and style engine and a cascading style sheets framework.

Nuxeo say that the integration of the CMS and various tools to create the Nuxeo Platform product allows the reuse of skills within the enterprise. Nuxeo Platform 5.5 is available to download for WIndows, Ubuntu and Debian, as a multi-platform package or as a VMWare or OVF virtual machine image. Nuxeo also offers the platform as an Amazon Web Services hosted cloud service. Nuxeo's business model is based on offering maintenance and support as subscription services. Source code is available from the company's Mercurial repository with further information available on the Nuxeo Community web site.
