Microsoft has announced NuPack, a new package manager for open source .NET libraries. It supports such .NET projects as ASP.NET Web Forms and ASP.NET MVC. NuPack is said to make easy work of finding, installing and using open source .NET libraries such as Moq, NUnit and NHibernate in projects – even during the development of an application. The package manager enables users to determine the dependencies between libraries and allows PowerShell scripts to be added to a project.

NuPack will be supported in all versions of Microsoft's development environment. It is an open source project managed by the Outercurve Foundation as part of the ASP.NET Open Source Gallery. Outercurve is the new name recently adopted by the CodePlex Foundation, the foundation Microsoft initiated a year ago to support open source projects and to mediate between the open source community and corporate culture. Outercurve also manages the CoApp (Common Open source Application Publishing Platform) package manager for open source software under Microsoft Windows, introduced in April 2010.

NuPack V1 CTP1 is available for downloading from CodePlex.com under the Apache 2.0 licence.
