Novell announced on Wednesday that it has purchased SiteScape, a provider of collaboration software. SiteScape's ICEcore web-based collaboration software supports cooperation between teams with functions for project management, knowledge management, calendars, and web conferences, among other things. The software is available in open source and commercial enterprise versions.

Novell already has an OEM contract with Sitescape and has integrated individual collaboration components into Novell Teaming and Teaming Plus. The takeover will strengthen Novell's position in the market for collaboration software. The financial terms of the takeover were not revealed.
