Novell and Ingres announce SUSE Appliance Program agreement
Novell and Ingres have announced a new cooperative agreement under which the Ingres database is now available within SUSE Studio as part of the SUSE Appliance Program. The two companies hope that the agreement will make it easier and more cost-effective for independent software vendors (ISVs) and system integrators (SIs) to build appliances for business critical applications that need an enterprise-class database.
Roger Burkhardt, Ingres CEO, said that, "We are now pleased to be working with Novell as part of the SUSE Appliance Program to bring the benefits of software appliances to ISVs along with our respective global support capabilities." Under the terms of the deal, the companies will jointly support and market the SUSE Studio Appliance Template for Ingres Database to ISVs.
The SUSE Studio Appliance Template for Ingres Database is available on the SUSE Studio web site. According to Novell, the SUSE Studio Online has almost 67,000 registered users, including 4,770 ISVs, and has built more than 286,500 appliances since July of 2009.
