Java icon The Java Community Process, the body responsible for Java standardisation, has announced that nominations for the upcoming JCP Awards are now open. Categories for the 10th annual awards include "JCP Member/Participant Of The Year" – either an individual or a company – and an "Outstanding Lead Spec", which recognises an individual for leading a Java Specification Request (JSR) for the community. The organisation is also seeking nominations for the "Most Significant JSR".

Nominations for the JCP 2012 Awards will remain open until 16 July and can only be submitted by JCP members. The winners will be honoured at the annual JCP party at Oracle's JavaOne event in San Francisco on 2 October.
