The Ubuntu Developer Summit (UDS) for Ubuntu 13.04 will take place in Copenhagen, Denmark from 29 October to 1 November. Ubuntu Developer Summits are held as development starts on a new version of Ubuntu Linux and brings together developers and community to create specifications and set out plans for features in that new version.

As usual, Ubuntu community members and developers can apply to be sponsored by Canonical. The company pays travel and accommodation expenses for a limited number of people to attend UDS, which takes place twice a year.

Interested community members can apply for sponsorship by filling out a web form on Canonical's Launchpad platform before 17 August. According to Ubuntu Community Manager Jono Bacon, individuals who have never attended a UDS before or who have been long-standing contributors to Ubuntu or upstream projects have a better chance of getting sponsored. With the sponsorship programme, Ubuntu is trying to encourage new community members and diversity of attendees.
