Fennec logo The Mozilla Foundation has released a new alpha version of its Fennec mobile browser for Windows Mobile. Fennec Alpha 3 requires Windows Mobile 6 and features an updated user interface, faster rendering and the ability to run the browser in full screen mode. The announcement also points out the browser's faster start-up. Release notes, more details and a installable CAB file (direct download) are available for the new version.

The last update of the Windows Mobile version was unveiled by Mozilla in June. The 1.0 beta 3 version for Maemo platforms such as the Nokia N810 and recently released N900, appeared in August. A final version of that is expected this year, but no release date has been set for the Windows Mobile version.

Users who want to experiment with the mobile browser but do not have an appropriate mobile device can try the unsupported Windows, Mac OS X or Linux desktop version of Fennec 1.0 beta 3 (the preceding three links are all direct download).
