New Stellarium release improves Ocular and Satellite plug-ins

The Stellarium project has released version 0.11.2 of its open source astronomy software. The new version closes 47 separate bug reports and wishlist items and lays the groundwork for further translation improvements by making most of the text in the application available to be localised with successive releases.

This new stable release includes improvements to the Ocular plug-in which makes it easier to control its functionality and cleans up the user interface. Furthermore, the Satellite plug-in now has the ability to import new data sources and satellites are now labelled with catalogue numbers and international designators to make it easier to tell them apart.

Stellarium is astronomy software that is used to photorealistically visualise the night sky from any point on the planet. It can be used to find stars and constellations and view them as one would see them through a telescope. The software package is of very high quality and is being used in planetarium projectors. Stellarium is available for download from SourceForge for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux. It is licensed under the GPL.
