Spalshtop OS

A new version of Splashtop's quick start operating system has been announced; the company supplies its Splashtop OS to hardware vendors for integration with their products. The new version is based on MeeGo, the mobile OS managed by the Linux Foundation and based on primary contributions and development by Intel and Nokia. Splashtop says that it aims to bring MeeGo to "next-generation tablets and netbooks". The new version of Splashtop allows apps to be installed from Intel's App Up app store and hardware vendors can also add the remote maintenance software Splashtop Remote.

Vendors use Splashtop for their own fast boot solutions. For example, ASUS, uses Splashtop as the basis for its own ExpressGate, which it includes with some motherboards, netbooks and laptops. This can be started from internal SSDs or hard drives and usually boots faster than Windows on the same machine. Acer, Dell, HP, Lenovo, LG, Sony and others also use Splashtop, which includes a browser, email and IM applications.
