NetBeans 6.8 beta released
Over one month later than originally planned, the NetBeans developers have announced the availability of the NetBeans IDE 6.8 beta. The development release includes several updates and new features compared to the previous milestone release, which featured an embedded Mozilla browser and enhanced Ruby support.
According to the developers, NetBeans 6.8 beta is the first IDE to include support for the entire Java Enterprise Edition (EE) 6 specification, with improved support for Java Server Faces (JSF) 2.0/Facelets and Java Persistence 2.0. Additionally, the 6.8 branch of NetBeans features updates to EJB 3.1, RESTful web services, GlassFish and improved Kenai feature integration. The final version of NetBeans 6.8, originally scheduled to be available at the end of November, is now expected to be released mid-December.
More details about the release can be found in the release information and the release notes. NetBeans 6.8 beta is available to download for Windows, Mac, Linux and Solaris. NetBeans is dual licensed under the CDDL and GPLv2 licences.
