NetBeans logo The Netbeans developers are hard at work on NetBeans 6.8, and the NetBeans NetCat programme is now available to support them. The NetCat (NetBeans Community Acceptance) programme is a community based quality assurance system which allows users to take an active part in determining whether the next release is ready. As part of the programme, users can submit bug reports which will be given a special prefix that "guarantees special attention from developers and QE engineers".

NetBeans 6.8 promises a number of new features; the milestone 1 release includes an embedded Mozilla browser, JEE6 support, extended Java Server Faces editing and updated and enhanced Ruby support.

Potential participants can sign up to be a member of the programme on the NetCat page for NetBean 6.8. NetBeans 6.8 is currently due to ship at the end of November, with the first beta due on September 21st.
