NetBeans 6.7 Community Acceptance Survey launched

The NetBeans developers have announced the start of the NetBeans 6.7 Community Acceptance Survey and are asking users to provide feedback on the current release candidate. The survey is part of the Community Acceptance Testing program (NetCAT) for NetBeans. The goal of NetCAT is to get early feedback from users and the NetBeans community on the main features and quality of the product, before release.

Should more than 20 per cent of the survey respondents choose a specific IssueZilla bug as critical, it will become an RC show-stopper and must first be fixed. If over 30 per cent of the respondents do not accept the RC build in the critical-to-quality (CTQ) area, the developers will perform a detailed analysis of the critical issues raised in the survey and decide what steps should be taken next. The survey is available to everyone in the NetBeans community. The deadline for the survey is the 18th of June.

Sun Microsystems also announced the availability of the second release candidate (RC2) of version 6.7 of NetBeans. The NetBeans 6.7 RC2 builds on the first release candidate from the beginning of the month and focuses on bug fixes, smaller changes and overall API compatibility. The final version of NetBeans 6.7 is expected to be released in late June.
