Mulesource becomes MuleSoft

MuleSource, the company behind the open source Mule ESB (Enterprise Service Bus) has changed its name to MuleSoft and added Tcat Server to its product line. Tcat Server is a web application server management platform based around the open source Apache Tomcat web server and application platform.

According to Greg Schott, CEO of MuleSoft, the change in name "conveys our broadening product portfolio and technological leadership". Schott joined MuleSource in February from SpringSource, where he was senior vice president of marketing and in charge of the re-branding of Interface21 to the SpringSource name. The company pointed out that 65 per cent of Mule ESB customers were running it alongside or in an Apache Tomcat environment, which was why the company was expanding its offerings to include Tomcat server management.

The new MuleSoft TCat Server has just entered public beta. It offers application provisioning, performance monitoring and server management and aims to simplify the process with a web based administration console. It also aims to be "100 per cent plug-compatible" with applications written for Apache Tomcat and is bundled with Tomcat 6.0. Tcat Server is available to download as a beta and is free to use in development and pre-production with subscription fees required for production use .
