Firefox Sync Logo The Mozilla Project has released version 1.5 of its Firefox Sync add-on for Firefox, formerly known as Weave. According to the developers, the latest version now includes an updated setup wizard that no longer requires a user name on sign up – only an email address is required.

The update to Firefox Sync add-on includes a strength meter for custom Sync Keys and enables bookmark and tabs sync on Mozilla's SeaMonkey "all-in-one internet application suite". Other changes include the addition of support for server-side quota, an improved default client name on mobile devices and various memory and performance improvements.

More details about the release can be found in the change log. However, the Mozilla Wiki has yet to be updated at the time of this writing. Version 1.5 of Firefox Sync is available from the Add-ons for Firefox portal and requires Firefox 3.5 or SeaMonkey 2.0 or later. Firefox Sync is released under version 1.1 of the Mozilla Public License (MPL). Alternatively, users existing users can update by selecting Tools > Add-ons and selecting Find Updates.
