Firefox logo Mozilla has released Firefox 18.0.1, a first update to Firefox 18, which was released ten days ago. According to the release notes, and the lack of any additional entries on the security advisories page, the release is a stability update addressing three issues.

One issue, which introduced problems with HTTP Proxy transactions and configuration, affected Firefox on all platforms. The other two issues affected Firefox on Mac OS X systems. In one, Firefox on HiDPI "Retina" displays assumed all other displays were HiDPI when working out positions for dialogs; HiDPI is now disabled for all external displays. The other issue concerned crashes when the Unity web player plugin was loaded.

The update should be automatically downloaded by Firefox on Windows and Mac OS X. Linux users whose Firefox has been provided by their distribution should expect system updates which include the update. Downloads are, of course, available from the system-detecting Firefox Download page or from the page listing Firefox for all systems and languages.
