SeaMonkey Logo Mozilla and the SeaMonkey Project developers have released version 2.1 of their "all-in-one internet application suite". SeaMonkey, formerly known as the Mozilla Application Suite, is the successor to Netscape Communicator and includes a web browser with advanced email and newsgroup support, an IRC chat client and HTML editing support.

Seamonkey 2.1 is based on the same Gecko layout engine as the 4.0 branch of Firefox. New features include the redesigned Add-ons Manager which now opens directly in the browser, support for SeaMonkey Sync (Firefox Sync), Personas, and a reworked bookmarks system.

The new Data Manager brings the management of passwords, permissions and cookies together in one place, including an option to delete Flash cookies (Local Shared Objects – LSOs) using "Clear Private Data / Cookies". The new Do-Not-Track (DNT) header option is also supported.

Platform-specific changes include support for Windows 7 Jump Lists and displaying download progress in the Windows 7 taskbar. On Mac OS X, the 2.1 branch no longer supports version 10.4 "Tiger" systems as SeaMonkey requires some newer features available only in 10.5 or later.

More details about the stable release can be found in the official release announcement, in the release notes, in the change log and on the SeaMonkey 2.1 Wiki page. SeaMonkey 2.1 is available to download for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux from the project's web site.

SeaMonkey binaries are released under the Mozilla SeaMonkey End-User Software License Agreement and the source code is released under disjunctive tri-licensing (MPL, GPLv2 and LGPLv2.1).
