Mozilla is expanding its San Francisco office and will open another one in Berlin's new Factory tech campus, the company recently announced. The branch in San Francisco is supposed to add 125 new employees for a total staff of 275 by the beginning of next year. Mozilla has confirmed that it will be hiring in Berlin as well, but has not yet given concrete numbers for that office.

The company is planning to move into a 1,000m2 space in Berlin's central Factory campus. Factory will become a startup incubator and some of the most successful German web startups including Soundcloud, Toast and Four Sector have already signed on; 6Wunderkinder has also confirmed that it will establish a presence at the campus. Mozilla has said that it is deliberately moving close to growing web startups because the company hopes to get insight and feedback from companies that use its products to develop for the web.

While expanding its San Francisco office to occupy two more floors, Mozilla plans to keep its Mountain View headquarters at the same employee count. Since the company relies on many volunteers to help develop its products, both new offices will have what it calls "open desks" for use by contributors who are not employed by the company.
