Mozilla Public Licence 2.0 gets a release candidate

Mozilla has made a "release candidate" of the Mozilla Public Licence (MPL) 2.0 available and, if no significant problems are found with this version, it plans to make it the released version of the MPL 2.0.

The MPL 2.0 is a file-level copyleft licence which is designed to sit between the Apache permissive licences and the GNU family of licences. The "release candidate" MPL 2.0 differs from April's beta 2 version by having a combined Secondary Licence and Larger Works section and several "tweaked" definitions. MPL 2.0 incorporates simpler language and explicit GPL family compatibility. The draft is available as pdf, plain html and plain text – an annotated, redlined version PDF showing changes (since beta 1) with footnotes is also available.

The creators have also released drafts of an MPL FAQ which answers general questions about the MPL, and a Revision Process and Changes FAQ which answers questions about changes between MPL 1.1 and 2.0.
