Oxite is a new offering on Microsoft's CodePlex open source community site. It's a simple, but fairly complete, content management system, implemented using the new and as-yet unreleased Model-View-Controller (MVC) framework for ASP.NET. It was designed both to support Microsoft's MIX Online site for web designers and as an example of ASP.NET MVC code, but as it has grown into a more complete and complex system, the company has decided to release it as a free product in its own right.

Oxite is standards-compliant, includes some of the more advanced blogging functions like trackbacks, pingbacks, as well as more standard functions such as anonymous and authenticated comments with basic moderation, RSS feeds and a Web administration panel.

Oxite is released under the Microsoft Permissive License and ASP.NET under its custom Source License.
