MontaVista has announced version 6 of its integrated development environment (IDE) for embedded Linux systems. MontaVista Linux 6 (MVL6) consists of Market Specific Distributions (MSD), the MontaVista Integration Platform, the MontaVista DevRocket 6 Eclipse-based IDE and MontaVista Zone Content Server which allows developers to search for new source code and keep it up to date. MSD support is available for the Freescale, Intel, Texas Instruments and Cavium platforms. According to MontaVista, developers using the package should be able to easily create individually adapted systems that can take full advantage of hardware.

MontaVista Linux 6 is currently in beta testing and is scheduled to be publicly available in July, 2009.
