Miguel de Icaza, Mono's chief developer, has announced that the next release of MonoDevelop, an open source Integrated Development Environment (IDE) for programming in C# and other .NET languages, will be cross-platform and run on Linux, Mac OS X and Windows. The Mono developers have released a Windows Preview which requires that GTK# for .NET version 2.12.9-2 is also installed.

The preview release, currently considered to be at an alpha stage of development, is intended for testing and should not be used in production environments. Several of the add-ins are still untested and there are some stability issues as well. Users interested in testing the alpha release are encouraged to file bug reports for any problems that they encounter.

The developers announced support for Mac OS X at the beginning of May. The current stable release of MonoDevelop is version 2.0 which was released at the end of March alongside Mono 2.4. A final release date for MonoDevelop 2.2 for Linux, Mac OSX and Windows has yet to be announced.
