Only one week after the release of Mono 2.4.2 which addressed more than 150 bugs, the Mono developers have announced the release of version 2.4.2.1. Mono 2.4.2.1 fixes an oversight by the developers that allowed version 2.4.2 to be released without the inclusion of the ASP.NET MVC framework. As well as including the framework, the release also fixes a major bug for multi-threaded applications using XPath, includes updates to the browser database and registers Silverlight mime types with XSP.

Ironically, the re-bundling of the ASP.NET components comes as Mono developer Miguel announced that, following Microsoft's promise that the ECMA standards for C# and the Common Language Infrastructure will now fall under the Microsoft Community Promise, Mono will be splitting into two distributions, one of patent safe ECMA implementations, and one which includes patent encumbered technology such as ASP.NET.

More details about the release can be found in the release notes. Mono 2.4.2.1 is available to download for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux.
