Miranda IM v0.8.0 messaging client released

Miranda logo The Miranda IM developers have announced the release of version 0.8.0 of their instant messaging (IM) client. Miranda IM is an open source, multi-protocol IM client for Windows systems that includes support for protocols such as AIM (AOL Instant Messenger), ICQ, IRC (Internet Relay Chat), Jabber, MSN and Yahoo. The client features a plug-in-based framework that allows users to easily customise their installations with over 350 different plug-ins.

According to lead developer Robert Rainwater, version 0.8.0 of Miranda IM includes several bug fixes and hundreds of new features. The update includes a new Account Manager that supports multiple accounts for all protocols and SSL support is now built-in to take advantage of encrypted connections. Other enhancements include privacy settings & lists support for AIM, mail notifier functionality for MSN, file transfer improvements for Jabber and Yahoo 9.x protocol support.
