The co-operation between Novell and Microsoft will be two years old this November; apart from being pleased about their success so far and pledging to continue their co-operation, the two companies have announced software which is to further improve the interoperability between Windows and Linux. A beta version of the free Moonlight implementation of Silverlight, in the form of a Firefox plug-in, is to become available to download soon.

Novell has announced it will release the "Advanced Management Pack for Suse Linux Enterprise for Microsoft Center Operations Manager 2007 R2" by mid-2009. The software allows Windows and Linux servers to be monitored and controlled via a single management console, reducing costs by eliminating the need for several management consoles in businesses with heterogeneous environments. Staff training costs will also be reduced because just one set management tool needs to be learned.
