jQuery has been adopted by both Microsoft and Nokia as part of their official development platforms. jQuery is a popular MIT/GPL licensed JavaScript framework, which simplifies the development of JavaScript applications by reducing the amount of code needed to traverse and manipulate HTML documents in the browser.

Microsoft announced that jQuery will be included in future releases of Visual Studio, with IntelliSense support for jQuery code completion. According to John Resig, creator of the jQuery library, Nokia is hoping to use jQuery as part of its WebKit-based Web Run-Time and is modifying current applications to use jQuery.

Neither Nokia or Microsoft are forking the code or changing the licence. Resig says "They've recognized its position as the most popular JavaScript library and wish to see its growth and popularity continue to flourish" and points to the probability that jQuery will see much more extensive testing on Internet Explorer and WebKit, beyond what the jQuery team currently do. The jQuery framework has already been widely adopted by companies such as Google, Dell, Twitter, Digg, and Intuit and open source sites including GitHub and SourceForge.
