MeeGo logo Linpus, Red Flag Software, 4tiitoo AG and China Standard Software Company (C2SC) are announcing at the MeeGo Conference in San Francisco that they will be updating their MeeGo based products to the recently released MeeGo 1.2. Last week's MeeGo 1.2 release included an improved core operating system with Netbook and IVI user experiences (UX) but only a "developer preview" of the Tablet UX and lacking the Handset UX.

The lack of a final Tablet UX has not stopped Linpus, Red Flag or 4tiitoo, who had all previously developed their own tablet user interfaces. Germany's 4tiitoo is upgrading the WeTab's operating system to use MeeGo 1.2 and incorporating code from MeeGo's tablet and touch enabled interfaces as part of its own user interface. The WeTab launched in Germany last year and the operating system was updated this month to support German, English, Dutch, Spanish, Italian, Russian and French as the company begins marketing it outside of Germany.

Linpus says it plans to update its existing netbook and tablet editions of Linpus Lite with the tablet edition offering a new widget desktop, a framework for converting applications into widgets and a OEM customisable lock screen. Red Flag is updating its Midinux Tablet and IVI editions and plans to unveil the tablet update at Taipei's Computex exhibition next week. Linpus and Red Flag both target the OEM electronics makers. Details of C2SC's update to MeeGo 1.2 are not currently available, but it is expected to be specifically for the Chinese market.
