MariaDB now ships with HeidiSQL

MariaDB logo The latest stable release of Monty Widneuis's MySQL fork MariaDB, 5.2.7, has been made available. A new addition is HeidiSQL, which is bundled with the Windows installer for MariaDB.

HeidiSQL is a GPLv2 licensed, lightweight Windows client for MySQL which allows the use of a GUI to browse, edit and create data, tables, views and stored procedures. HeidiSQL is only available for Windows and only bundled with the Windows installers of MariaDB, but according to the developers' download page, it "runs fine on Windows (2000, XP, Vista, 7) and on any Linux with Wine."

Starting with 5.2.7, MariaDB will now also ship Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 (RHEL5) RPMs, in addition to the CentOS 5 packages it offers. Other changes include faster temporary tables and a fix for the nice priority for the server. Full details of the changes are listed in the change log. MariaDB is available to download as source, Windows 64- and 32-bit installers, Solaris 10 and 11, 32-bit and 64-bit Linux, CentOS 5 and RHEL.
