Mandriva & Zarafa announce partnership

Mandriva Logo French Linux solutions provider Mandriva and messaging and collaboration specialist Zarafa have announced a new partnership in which Mandriva will provide Zarafa's Collaboration Platform on its Mandriva Enterprise Server 5 (MES5). Under the partnership, Mandriva is to offer Zarafa dedicated packages that also include support for Mandriva Enterprise Server 5.

Zarafa Logo Discussing the announcement, Arnaud Laprévote, Mandriva CEO and President of the Management Board, said: "This partnership makes it easy for companies that are committed to open source to realize the benefits of integrated enterprise solutions, and we are thrilled about this partnership," adding that, "We have created the easiest to set up and easiest to use environment for Zarafa."

The Zarafa Collaboration Platform (ZCP) is a Linux-based groupware product which offers IMAP/POP3 access, a CalDAV gateway, native MAPI integration with Outlook and its own WebAccess web client. Visually, the WebAccess client is closely based on Outlook 2003 and offers almost all the features found in Outlook Web Access.

ZCP can also be used on mobile devices such as iPhones, BlackBerrys and ActiveSync-based devices. Zarafa is aimed at users who want to use Outlook, but do not wish to pay for Microsoft's Exchange Server.
