Mandriva Linux 2010 Spring Alpha 2 arrives

Mandriva Linux Logo The Mandriva developers have announced the availability of the second alpha of what will become Mandriva Linux 2010 Spring (2010.1). The latest development release includes a number of bug fixes for the previous alpha and updates to the desktop components and included third-party software.

Mandriva Linux 2010 Spring Alpha 2 is based on the 2.6.33 RC6 Linux kernel and features the third release candidate for KDE SC 4.4 (4.3.98), GNOME 2.29.6 and X.org 7.5. KDE related updates include version 2.2.2 of the Amarok music player and KTorrent 4.0 Beta 1. Other package updates include version 3.6 of the Firefox web browser, OpenOffice.org 3.2 Beta 3, Songbird 1.4.3 and version 1.83 of the Transmission BitTorrent peer-to-peer file sharing client. As with all development releases, use in production environments and on mission critical systems is not advised.

Mandriva 2010 Spring Alpha 2 is available to download as a 32 or 64-bit DVD image file. The final release of Mandriva 2010 Spring is scheduled to be released on June 3, 2010. Mandriva Linux is released under the GPL license.
