Mandriva Linux 2010 Alpha 2 released

The Mandriva developers have announced the availability of the second alpha of Mandriva Linux 2010. The 2010.0 release is aimed at improving the user experience for daily tasks. The second alpha includes several updates to the included components from the previous Alpha 1 release launched at the end of June.

Mandriva Linux 2010 Alpha 2 is based on the 2.6.31 RC4 Linux kernel and includes several updates to the major desktop components. The release features the third release candidate of KDE 4.3 (4.2.98), the latest 2.27.5 development release of GNOME and X.org Server 1.6.3 with the latest Intel graphic chip-set driver. KDE related updates include version 2.1.1 of the Amarok music player, KOffice 2.0.1 and version 1.0 beta 3 of the DigiKam photo and image management tool.

Mandriva 2010 Alpha 2 is available to download as a 32 or 64-bit DVD image file. Previously scheduled to be released on the 21st of October, the final release of Mandriva 2010 is now expected to be available on the 3rd of November, 2009. Mandriva Linux is released under the GPL license.
