Mageia Logo The Mageia project has decided to release a new version of its Linux distribution every nine months. The release of Mageia 2 represents an exception to this rule as it will be released in April 2012, ten months after version 1.0 of Mageia .

All Mageia versions will be updated with bug fixes and security updates for 18 months. The team is also mulling over releasing a long-term support (LTS) version, which would be supported for three years. The specification for the next release is already in place and the developers have also agreed on 16 November as the date for the first alpha version of Mageia 2.
