The Mageia project has released new ISO images for the Mageia 3 edition using the distribution's classical installer. A configuration fault with the images meant that users who specified the use of online repositories inadvertently switched their distribution updates to receive development packages. The developers fixed this problem on the server infrastructure, but that caused problems for users actually wanting to use the development repositories.

The initial images included a bug that would cause the installer to install the system with updates from Cauldron, the Mageia development version, when a user enabled online repositories at the start of the installation process. The developers had added the temporary fix at the server end to prevent users from being affected by the bug, causing Cauldron users to install packages from the main Mageia repositories instead. This means that users wishing to install development packages need to check their repository configuration and manually adjust it where applicable.

For users downloading the ISO images now, the developers recommend that they check the DATE.txt file on their mirror to make sure the images they download are the re-spun ones from 6 June. The developers also note that, to prevent further regressions, the software on the ISOs has not been updated in any way and that, for this reason, the errata for the original release still apply.
