Mageia logo With just days to go before the previously delayed final release date, the Mageia developers have pushed the final release of Mageia 3 back another two weeks. The release had been due on 3 May after the development plan was rescheduled in February.

But even that delay appears to have not been enough for a clean release. Mageia board member Anne Nicholas commented: "We could say 'Mageia will be released when it’s ready' but we would look like a copycat" – a reference to Debian's release policy, though, in a slightly ironic twist, Debian's Wheezy release is due this weekend.

A release candidate for Mageia 3 had been published on 21 April – it now appears that this was not a candidate for release, but more a late beta. According to the announcement, the team "still have some release blocker bugs to fix" in the installer, hardware detection and installation media. The new plan is to go straight to a final release on 18 May.
