At the LinuxTag conference, members of the KDE PIM developer team have presented the prototype of a mobile version of their software. The application package, including Kmail etc. for the Nokia N900, was made available to download at the same time. The developers chose the Maemo platform because devices running this platform are already in circulation, which allows a larger number of people to test the prototype; however, the software is also planned to be ported to other platforms, such as MeeGo, in the future.

The developers explicitly point out that the prototype may still contain a lot of bugs. Those who decide to test the Kontact suite can find details about how to integrate the repository and install the software on the project page. For those who want to gain an impression of the current state of development without installing the software, the developers have made a demo video available online.
